Pumice is a porous volcanic component that can contribute durable coarse pore structure and aeration to an appropriate recipe.
Pumice is a component
Its value comes from the physical properties it can contribute when used appropriately. It is not complete soil or growing media.
Not a magical drainage cure
If a landscape is wet because water has nowhere to leave the property, adding pumice to a small area does not create an outlet.
Choose by the system
Consider existing material, container or site, target physical behavior, handling, and irrigation before changing a recipe.
Use pumice as a component—not a complete medium
Connect the physical role of pumice to the complete container or growing-media system.
